Zoo Day

Touching starfish, scarry after you watch the Planet Earth Series!
Playing with a sea otters skull
"pick up trash"
Can I be this for halloween?
T and Mommy

So the sun is back and we decided to get our fill of it and spent the whole day at the Pt Defiance Zoo! I mean whole day from 10:30 to 4:30, we spent our time looking at all of the extra things that we normally walk buy and ignore! We also stopped and talked with the keepers and tried to catch as many shows/talks as possible Trysten found $5.00 outside the gift shop and was able to buy himself a nice beluga whale necklace which he named Jonathan.

Manicure Thursday

I was giving myself a manicure and Trysten asked if I could do his too! I told him I could but I would paint them clear instead of the fuchsia I was doing on my nails. He really wanted the fuchsia but when I told him that it wouldn't come off before school which was a clear sell for the clear.

Bathroom Hideout

I got an email yesterday from Trysten's teacher, she stated Trysten was making trips to the bathroom more frequently and for great length of time. She thought maybe he was trying to avoid doing his work. One time she went in search of him and he was just hanging out. He told her that he couldn't button his pants and to his credit his pants where not buttoned when she found him. But based on his history is a pretty good assumption that he is doing what ever he can to avoid the work. She was going to talk with him about it and we may need to limit his breaks to 2-3 a day.

Rain Rain go Away

So what else can you do on a Rainy Saturday afternoon in Washington? Well we headed out to Borders Book Store after a quick stop at the coffee shop for some energy in a cup. We arrived just in time to catch the end of the story telling and then we spent a few hours checking out our own selections! Trysten was able to read a majority of the Ready to read level 2 book. Although he did it with a lot of encouragement and a few tears (these generally appear when he is trying to get out of doing anything he considers "work"). I was happy to see that he made it throughmost of the book. We also spent a lot of time on the MONSTER book which discussed all kinds from vampires and werewolves to Jekyll and Hide. All of which are real, he swears they are!

We learned a very hard lesson about the mailman. Since Mommy made the mistake of telling him the mailman was going to bring Speed Racer for him on Saturday. He woke up asking if the mail man was had came at 7:30am, and every half hour until I convinced him that we should go to the book store and the mail man would probably drop the book of while we were gone. Well sadly when we returned at 4:30 the mailman still hadn't been there, and a short mental breakdown ensued until he finally gave up all hope and was laying on the floor. When what does he see walking by the front window?? You guessed it the Mail Man, PHEW!

On a side note don't let boys watch this and have rootbeer soda or you will end up with a racing maniac, who runs from room to room!

His First Seahawks Game

Trysten attended his first Seahawk game this weekend with his Dad. Kemal reported that Trysten spent most of the time getting in and out of his seat, roaming the clubhouse and looking for ear plugs cause it was louder than any concert they have ever been too. The highlight was he saw 2 bicycle policemen arrest someone:)

Maritime Festival

The Boat
Under the closed "death trap"
Me on the boat
We caught the shuttle over to the maritime festival and got to ride on this cool old boat it was like saving private ryan with the deck that flipped down...although I don't advise storming the beach in flip flops unless you want a face plant on the rocky shores:) Also if the soldiers had a long ride I am surprised any of them made it off the boat cause we almost died from diesel exhaust!

Trysten sliding down the titanic!

Some how the whole idea of a Sinking Titanic Bouncer at a maritime fest was not a very promising sign for me! Trysten practiced sliding down into the ice berg!

Trysten getting the instructions to the rock climb sadly he only made it to the first grips he thinks he needs to be taller to do this.

trout fishing we did not keep it

Tacoma Rail

We headed down to the tideflats to check out the Tacoma Rail Open House it was pretty cool we got a free train ride through the Port of Tacoma, it was pretty cool because they told us what all of those chemical plants and other sites where we drive by them every day it's good to know what we are looking at!

Celebrating America

We did our annual tradition of attending the fair with Grandpa Mike who brought his "friend" Melissa. After a rocky start with a rude ride operator and a Tommy Boy reenactment with the full slam into the glass at the fun house. We headed to the swings where Momma almost threw up! Then Bopa Mike almost died of a heart attack on the enterprise when Trysten lifted from the seat. We did win a transformer poster at one of the 6 games we played. We enjoyed a wide variety of the fair food, which was was apparently not on Trysten's schedule of events for the night. All in all it was a great night! When we got home the kid was worn out and said he felt like he was gonna throw up from "too much cotton candy".

Our Commute to school

I just wanted to share our scenic commute with some of the out-of-staters! Sometimes you forget just how beautiful it is until you see sunrises like this:

Halloween Costume Test Drive

Notice the tounge coming through?? He wasn't a real Joker without it!

Give a six year old a sword and a shield and this is what
you will see right before being stabbed in the knees!

The "Look" Begins

Yesterday when Kemal picked Trysten up from school he got the "look" from the teacher. She stated that it has been a challenge to get him to do his work, especially writing. She mentioned that he wants to talk about the way things were done at Franklin. She also said that he wanted to go back to his kindergarten class. She made sure that Trysten was present when saying these things. She told him that I want you to hear this too. She also said that he needs to practice writing, especially his numbers. She said that she often sees this problem with children who are left handed. At least the writing problem. She then said it's been a little tough, there have been moments of tears from him. Kemal assured her we too struggle through tears to get him to do book work at home.

Future Travis Barker??

After doing a little birthday shopping at Ross we stopped by Guitar Center to entertain ourselves. Trysten's favorite room is the drum room, he bee-lined to the room and got himself some drum sticks. Above is a few pics of him jamming out on a $100,000 drum set.

Mommy's Chuck E Cheese Birthday

When Trysten heard that I was going to celebrate my birthday at The Outback for dinner without him his little feelings were hurt. So I did the only thing that a mommy can do we headed out to Chuck E Cheeses for a early birthday party.

The Sky is Falling!

At about 8:00pm last night shortly after being put down for his bed time. I hear Trysten start screaming hysterically from his room. Before I have time to sit up, he comes barrelling into my room screaming call the police call the police! I jumped out of bed and asked what is going on? Through his screaming I got that that something fell from the ceiling and landed in his nose! Confused I checked out his left nostril was flared out. In the dark I couldn't see what was going on, so I reached to touch his noise and he said NOOOO get the police. I cracked up I told him that the police wouldn't be able to help him. In his hysterics he blew the bead out of his nose. I caught it and it was a piece off one of his ninja turtle toys. I asked why he put that in his nose he was sticking with the it fell from the ceiling, even after I questioned how did it get though the top bunk. That should have protected him from any falling nostril impelling beads.

Below is the sky that fell into his nose next to a quarter!
The magical nose impaling bead!
