Drawing with Khylee, and Corbin

After the library we headed out to see Khylee and Corbin, the kids played for a long time, we had a good lunch/dinner that Uncle Marvin made for us. Then the kids sat down for some coloring.
While Khylee and Trysten drew monsters CORBIN did his impression of a monster.
Corbin and Trysten drawing. Corbin kept covering his eyes like he was scared.
Khylee drawing fireworks...
This is one of Khylee's monster pictures, when we saw the peculiar third appendage near his feet. Tiffany and I thought it was a boy monster and asked her what it was cause it looked so funny.
Khylee replied "That's the babies head". PRICELESS

Fall Leaves

Today after the library we gathered some fall leaves for a school project.

Good Morning Sir

Today I took Trysten to school on time so we bypassed the schools out program and pulled up to the drop off! I was pretty impressed they have parents wave you in and then a 5th grade opens the door and says good morning. Just like the doorman at the fancy hotels.

Blinging out the Dog

Trysten was apparently bored while he waited for me to get ready for the library so he put some of my jewelry on the dog and kept saying "YO-YO" to him!

Step into reading?

So last night we were reading some of our library books the most of the ones that we checked out were at his class level and were super hard! We moved on to a Halloween poem book and all of a sudden he began to read it all on his own! So we grabbed a kindergarten level book and he read 99% on his own he did need a little help but I was SOOO PROUD that he got through the whole book!!

This weeks reward

So Trysten only went to school for 2 days this week but both days he achieved all SIMILES! So his point's added up to ODYSSEY 1! He was super excited to go like usual here is some video of him being goofy! We also uploaded more pics to our pic site!

How do u trick a kid into reading?

You take him to the library! Today we ventured out to the library to get some books but T would rather spend the whole time on the computer. So I set him up with the reading website and the sight words website for a 45 minutes the sites had his attention until he asked CAN I GET ON TO PBSKIDS?

A day at Grandma and Bopa's house

"no your doing it wrong"
THIS IS WHAT SHARING LOOKS LIKE! HA HA HA

Trysten had a "stay at home day" today so he spent it at his Grandma and Bopa's house he played games, watched movies, fed a gerbil, played musical instruments, possible almost overdosed on sugar with the cookies-strawberry milkshake and "shared" his PSP with his grandma.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We also had his parent teacher conference today with his teacher, Mommy, Daddy and Trysten all in attendance. We learned some very hard news that Trysten is a full grade behind in his reading, he can recognize 10 sight words the goal for the year is 40, and reads only 6 WPM. He also says he likes math but is struggling with the basics. As most of you know we have worked VERY hard with him over the summer and into the beginning of this year to get him on track or ahead. It looks like we still have a lot of work to do.

6yr CHECK UP

Trying to hide from the RN!
The battle wound pic!
Well today was Trysten's 6th year old well child check up! He is now 4'2" and 71lbs, everything else checked out good as well! The downside was that he had to get an "injection" to which the Dr thought it would be good to forewarn him of it! Saying "Well buddy you have to get 1 shot today" And that set Trysten off into a screaming match with the Dr. telling him he was going to kick the RN if she came in of course the doc tried to reason with him. But Trysten was adamant that she was getting kicked or stabbed with the needle. She came in with reinforcements and NO he did not kick or stab her. He screamed when they cleaned his arm but when the needle went in he said "OH". So he lived threw it and was actually over it in seconds!

A letter from his teacher*

Trysten spent some time with our principal,** this morning. She is aware of the time and energy I have to spend re-directing and encouraging Trysten each day so they had a serious "talk." In a classroom of 24 students, Trysten is my biggest worry at this time because of his lack of motivation and his poor attitude towards his school work. I had him stay in for part of lunch recess to do some work that he said he had finished, but hadn't done at all. I know you are doing what you can to keep him going at home and we will continue to do what we can to support him here.
**Per requests of the teacher I have edited this blog entry.
